I want to be good at it. But I forget, or I am tired, or I am busy- so I don't update it. Now, I am takin' a cue from my good friend Dusty and just writing about things that interest me, bother me, confuse me , etc. - whenever I feel like it.
That being said, I present to you my thoughts on the current state of the arena concert tour.
As we all know, I am an avid Britney Spears fan.
Like, not the normal SheMakesPrettyGoodDanceSongsandILikeherasLongasSheHasHairandIsn'tMarriedtoKevinFederline fan.
I embrace and adore her at her BarefootBaldCheetosBeatingCarswithUmbrellas worst.
When Britney went on her last tour- I was determined to go. Several of my friends and I got tickets and road tripped up to Greensboro to see the princess of pop in all of her glittery glory. When we walked in to the arena, there were lines EVERYWHERE. Like I am talking up the friggen staircase. I was sure our seats were fairly nosebleed, but little did we know that the line led us to a group of scanners notifying us that we had received an "upgrade". We went from hanging out in the rafters, to a mid-level balcony. The only thing between us and Brit-Brit were floor seats leading up to the auditorium style seating which the balcony hung over. The seats we were now sitting in were easily 100+ bucks, and as I took my fancy seat, I noticed that the entire upper level was draped, making us the highest level visible from the stage.
To be honest, I was surprised. When I was in middle school, the Backstreet Boys/Hanson/N*SYNC/NameYourOwnBoyband had sold out entire coliseums, with scalpers convincing parents to shell out hundreds in the name of their 13 year old t0 have the chance to be in the presence of JustinTimberNickCarter. Had it really come to a giant black plastic drape?
I have not had the opportunity to see a lot of concerts in the past year, so I wanna hear yalls thoughts? Have you been to concerts, are people still going? Or are we reverting back to big names/small venues? Will the arena concert megashow go the way of the CD section at Barnes & Nobel?
